FC Olympia ended their three-game away stretch with a bang as they survived a 4-4 battle with West Seattle Junction FC at Nino Cantu Memorial Stadium in Seattle on Sunday afternoon, July 7.

The visiting Artesians held a three-goal lead in the second half, the first time they led by that many goals this season. Then they collapsed in the homestretch, conceding three goals in the last twenty minutes of playing time, failing to hold on to that precious lead.

Tyler Allred opened the scoring for the Artesians, unlocking the floodgates early in the first half with his first goal of the season in the 7th minute. Jack Civitts doubled the advantage in the 37th minute before West Seattle’s William Maguire got one back for the hosts just before the halftime whistle.

With the 2-1 advantage at halftime, FC Olympia continued the momentum when play resumed. Connor Lofy caught fire with two quick goals in succession for the Artesians just minutes after the break, scoring in the 49th and again in the 54th minute. He provided the visitors with what should have been a comfortable three-goal advantage, 4-1.

The Artesians tried with all their might to maintain the cushion, but tragedy struck as the hosts fought back until the final whistle. Eli Dreon initiated the comeback, scoring past FC Olympia keeper Jackson Ozburn for West Seattle in the 74th minute. Maguire followed it up with his second goal in the 83rd minute.

FC Olympia tried to hold fast to this 4-3 scoreline until the finale, but substitute Marcos Bravo had other ideas, as he dealt the sucker punch goal when he found the equalizer in the 90th minute.

The final score broke Artesian hearts after they blew the three-goal lead and wasted two points in the league table in what could have been a statement win.
