As a public service, The JOLT publishes obituaries of people who lived in the Thurston County area, either at the time of death or previously; who graduated from or attended school in the area; or who have another connection to our area, such as survivors who live here. We do not charge for this service.
We accept obituaries of up to 1,000 words. Obituaries may be submitted either by a surviving family member or by a funeral home. We do not accept obituaries for pets.
The JOLT typically does not edit submitted obituaries, though we reserve the right to make minor grammatical or spelling corrections.
We publish obituaries as soon as we can, often the same day we receive them.
Information typically included in an obituary includes the date of birth and death; full name, including middle name(s) or middle initial(s) if applicable; the deceased’s city of residence at birth and death; names of parents; secondary and college education information; dates of military service, if applicable; date of nuptials, if applicable; hobbies; memorial service information; and names of surviving close family members.
