Community Advisory Committee seeks diversity for the seats open for applicants

Posted

Intercity Transit Authority (ITA) is calling “civically-minded individuals who represent our diverse community to serve as advisors on the ITA or on the Community Advisory Committee (CAC).”

ITA community representative

The board for the ITA is a nine-member group comprised of elected officials who represent the Thurston County Board of Commissioners and the Cities of Lacey, Tumwater, Olympia, and Yelm, as well as a labor representative and three community representatives.

One of the community representative seats is open, with a term of three years remaining. The ITA community representative must live within the public transportation benefit area; click here for the map.

To apply for the ITA position, applicants are to send a letter of interest and resume to Intercity Transit Authority, Attn: Pat Messmer, P.O. Box 659, Olympia, WA98507-0659; hand-deliver materials to 510 Pattison SE, Olympia, WA 98501; or email materials to pmessmer@intercitytransit.com. Materials must be received by 5 p.m., October 4, 2024.

CAC Advisory Committee

The 20-member advisory group “provides input to the ITA on local public transportation issues,” according to ITA. A youth member serves one year, the other nineteen serve three-year terms.

“Members of the committee represent a cross-section of the community and must live, work, or attend school in Thurston County to apply. Individual service users, businesses, nonprofit groups, students, and other community members are encouraged to apply.”

“As part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we are specifically seeking representation from” active-duty military and veterans, BIPOC, people living with disabilities, fixed income families, LGBTQ+ community, seniors, and youth.

To apply to the CAC Advisory Committee, applications are on the Intercity Transit website, the Intercity Transit’s Administrative Office, at the Olympia Transit Center, or by calling 360-705-5857.

Email completed applications to acollins@intercitytransit.com by Friday, October 4.
