Olympia Lamplighters Watercolor Class, September 2

Have you wanted to learn how to use tools and methods to learn the basics of watercolor? If so, this class is for you! Learn dry and wet brushing, how to do washes, and how to paint crisp lines, bloom, and fill techniques for applying color. Find out how to erase and lift your watercolor paint and find out how you can use a variety of other tools to create texture in this watercolor class. Utilize your imagination and come to our class to learn the basics of watercolor that you’ve always wanted to learn and take your first step in experiencing the art of watercolor. Olympia Harbor Days  Festival, September 2-4, from 10 A.M.

Olympia Harbor Days is an annual FREE family festival dedicated to the community as a celebration of maritime heritage hosted by the South Sound Maritime Heritage Association, supporting South Sound maritime history and the tugboat tradition since 1974. Olympia Harbor Days (OHD) is an annual non-profit festival celebrating the maritime heritage of the Puget Sound in Olympia for a weekend of entertainment, food, art, history, and a last farewell to summer. In years past, vintage tugboats, retired or working, had been moored at Olympia’s Percival Landing for Touring and Racing in the annual World’s Largest Vintage Tugboat Races & Show! Tiny Tides Storytime, September 3, from 10:00 A.M.

Step into the Estuarium before it opens to the public and come along as you explore the ecosystems through stories. Estuarium team members will read an estuary-themed picture book from our Children’s Library. In addition to the book reading, participants will be able to explore exhibits, get time to meet animal ambassadors, and feed the animals! Please open this link for more details.

Join the foundation for a new walking tour series, in collaboration with Olympia-Tumwater Foundation. Explore Tumwater’s past, hear about the Olympia Brewing Company, and the annual salmon migration! MAKE: Customized Stained Glass Panel, August 6, from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

Using stained glass, you’ll learn to design, cut, grind, and solder glass pieces, turning them into a beautiful stained glass panel. The class provides two hours of instructional time for eight weeks and one week of non-instructional studio time in November. During the class you will learn the fundamentals of stained glass, working with glass tools and equipment to create a stained glass panel designed around a piece of vintage glassware. Free Introduction to Square Dancing, September 8, from 6:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

Free and fun introduction to square dancing. A chance to get out and get moving. You'll be dancing right away. Good exercise for body and brain in a friendly atmosphere. No experience necessary.
