SPSCC gains accreditation for its College in the High School Program

South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) reports that the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) has granted accreditation for its College in the High School (CiHS) program.

This recognition makes SPSCC the ninth institution in Washington State and the sixth among the state’s two-year colleges to receive this accreditation.

The CiHS program enables high school students to earn college credits for courses taught by their high school teachers on their own campuses, providing an opportunity to experience college-level curriculum right on the school premises.

Anne Molenda, SPSCC’s Director of K12 Partnerships and Recruitment, expressed enthusiasm about the accreditation.

"We are very excited to earn accreditation through NACEP as this will allow SPSCC to continue to grow our program in a purposeful and consistent way, showing that we are aligned with the rigorous national standards," she said.

Amy Tureen, Dean of Academic Success Programs, highlighted the long-term benefits of this achievement.

"Achieving NACEP accreditation now ensures that SPSCC's CiHS program already meets the program standards that will become obligatory in the next few years," she noted.

SPSCC was commended by the Peer Review Team and Accreditation Commission for giving students in lower socioeconomic and rural areas opportunities, streamlining the student registration process, and offering academic guidance through Navigators and Educational & Career Planners.
