Repeat offender allegedly steals anew from Dollar Tree

Posted

An Olympia man who had been trespassed from a Dollar Tree for allegedly stealing at least 14 times before was arrested last week after another incident at the same store.

Olympia police arrested Riylee Jeremy Grimnes, 24, on April 9 after the manager of the Dollar Tree on the 2100 block of Harrison Avenue NW reported that an individual stole items from the store and left.

The manager told police that Grimnes had been banned from the store for multiple alleged previous thefts, adding that the suspect had become more aggressive, causing her to fear for the safety of the team.

The responding officer confirmed that a trespass notice effective for 12 months was issued against Grimnes last March 3.

The manager said that on April 9, Grimnes walked into the store and stole several bags of candy. She said she confronted the suspect, who then responded “incoherently.”

The manager told Grimnes to stop, or she would call the police, to which the suspect responded, “Go ahead” and left the store.

Police found Grimnes nearby and arrested him. The suspect was booked into the Thurston County Jail for second-degree burglary. None of the candy was recovered.
