Primary election is August 6, there's still time to register to vote

The August 6 Primary Election is fast approaching, and here are important deadlines and information you need to know.

The online and mail voter registration deadline is July 29, while the deadline for in-person registration is August 6.

There are three ways to register: online, by mail, and in person at the county's new voter services center at 2915 29th Ave SW, Tumwater, WA 98512.

To register online, visit the Secretary of State website and fill out the registration form.

To register by mail, visit the Secretary of State and print the registration form. If your driver’s license and ID card are not available, you may use the last four digits of your social security number.

For in-person registration, visit the driver licensing office nearest you and register. Citizens who are 16-17-years-old who applied for a driver’s license or ID card can pre-register to vote.

You can visit the nearest driver licensing office to update your voter registration and information. You may also update your voter details through the Thurston County Auditor by calling 360-786-5408, via email, or mail or in person at 2915 29th Ave SW, Tumwater, WA 98512. The office is open from Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To know if you are eligible to vote, see below the qualifications:

  • A citizen of the United States, and a Washington State resident
  • At least 18 years old by Election Day
  • Not currently serving a sentence in prison under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections for a Washington felony conviction
  • Not currently incarcerated for a federal or out-of-state felony conviction
  • Not disqualified from voting due to a court order.
