Two individuals were arrested on January 22 at a local hotel near the intersection of Marvin Road NE and Quinault Drive NE, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported on their social media post.

The suspects, who have active warrants issued by the Department of Corrections, were arrested in a joint operation by the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force.

One of the subjects attempted to evade additional charges by throwing a loaded, stolen handgun and a fanny pack containing illegal drugs out of the room window.

An officer was already positioned outside the window and caught the contraband.

“He (the suspect) was quickly made aware there was officer presence outside the window to await that exact anticipated maneuver,” stated the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force.

Among the items seized as evidence during the arrest were 2.6 ounces of fentanyl powder, 400 fentanyl pills, 5 ounces of methamphetamine, and 3 ounces of a non-drug powder typically used as a filler to increase drug dealer profits.

Additionally, two firearms, one confirmed as stolen, ammunition, firearm magazines, body armor, and approximately $4,000 in US currency were confiscated.

Both suspects were arrested on their active Department of Corrections warrants and booked at the Thurston County Jail.

The two are now facing new charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance - fentanyl and methamphetamine with intent to manufacture, deliver, or sell while armed.

“The Task Force continues to focus on arresting local fentanyl dealers who are exploiting vulnerable segments of our community during an opiate addiction epidemic,” Thurston County Narcotics Task Force stated in their police report.
