The Lacey City Council is currently accepting recommendations from local organizations to fill a vacant position on the Capital Area Regional – Public Facilities District (CAR-PFD) board member.

This opportunity arises as the Board seeks to fill an unexpired term that concludes on March 1, 2027.

Established in 2003, the CAR-PFD is a special taxing district formed by the cities of Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater, along with Thurston County.

Its primary function is to finance payments on bonds issued by Lacey and Olympia, supporting the construction of two regional event centers - Lacey’s Regional Athletic Complex and Olympia’s Hands on Children’s Museum.

Under RCW 82.14.390, the CAR-PFD is authorized to receive 0.033% of the State share of sales and use tax generated within the four jurisdictions.

This funding will be used for promoting economic development by facilitating the construction of essential public facilities.

The Board holds fiduciary responsibility for these funds, convening annually to review financial statements and issue comprehensive reports.

For those interested in learning more about the CAR-PFD and its mission, further information is available at the City of Lacey website.

Additionally, individuals with inquiries regarding the application process are encouraged to reach out to the City Clerk’s office at 360-491-3214 or via email.
