The PARC Foundation of Thurston County, supported by local businesses and nonprofits, will host its first funk festival, Funk OFF!, at the Capitol Theater and Olympia Ballroom in downtown Olympia from February 2-4, with festivities scheduled from 2 p.m. onwards.

“Buckle up, because your soul is about to get seriously funky! Mark your calendars for February 2nd-4th, 2024, when the inaugural Olympia Funk Festival ignites the city with three days of non-stop dancing, electrifying music, and pure good vibes,” writes the foundation in their press release.

The festival will feature musical artists such as George Porter Jr. & Runnin' Pardners, Polyrhythmics, and The Rumble ft. Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. The lineup boasts homegrown musicians from Seattle, Portland, and Olympia along with iconic funk outfits from farther afield, from Hawaii to New Orleans. Visit this site for the full roster.

Outside, the festival halls at Washington Street will also be lined with food trucks, a beer garden, band merchandise, and other surprises.

The $129 weekend ticket to Funk OFF! grants ticketholders unlimited access to all general admission shows at both venues.

An optional Sunday Soul Brunch upgrade, $25, will “leave you singin' Hallelujah! (The funky kind, of course).” according to the event’s organizers. The brunch will be at the Olympia Ballroom, featuring a solo performance by Ron Artis II with a special surprise guest.

The all-ages event is open to the whole family, and, even funkier, the whole weekend is free for kids aged 12 and under!
