Olympia School District asks for community participation in socio-emotional survey

Posted

Olympia School District (OSD) urges students, staff, and families in grades 3-12 to answer the Panorama Fall Climate Survey from Monday, September 23, to Monday, October 7.

The survey gauges the overall well-being of OSD’s constituents, whether students feel a sense of belonging, families think they are heard, or staff feel supported.

The data from the fall survey will inform the district’s decision-making. Prior data has indicated that OSD needs to strengthen its “sense of belonging.”

“Data shows that we need to strengthen our ‘sense of belonging.’ This has prompted professional development among administrators and staff to work toward increasing inclusionary practices throughout the district,” OSD’s news release stated.

The Panorama Climate Surveys are held in the fall and spring of every academic year and serve as a source of input for hearing from students and families to inform decision-making.

“The Panorama Climate Surveys allow us to check our temperature as a community and see where we may need to dive deeper into our data to be intentional in our support. While we need to make sure we have multiple ways of hearing from and partnering with our students and families, these surveys are one unique opportunity to hear from all of them,” the release stated.

How to access

Students will take the Panorama Survey in class, as designated by their schools.

For the staff, the survey is accessible by opening the OSD Portal to participate in the Panorama Staff Survey.

Surveys are provided in various languages, and the Family Survey is accessible using the following links :

Thank you for this important survey. My default is that "people need to both know and feel that they have been heard." Please report the results.
