Posted

At a Wednesday, September 6 meeting, the Olympia Site Plan Review Committee approved the land use approval for the Nisqually Healing Center project, located at 3663 Pacific Avenue SE.

The Nisqually Tribe plans to build a 21,750-square-foot outpatient medical facility to serve up to 500 tribal and non-tribal clients daily in 2024.

The Nisqually Healing Center aims to offer a range of healthcare services, including mental health counseling, dental care, primary medical services, psychiatric medication management, and other related services.

The facility will also focus on the opioid epidemic by providing a treatment approach incorporating Nisqually's culture and native perspective on health and healing.

In addition, the center aims to extend services to individuals outside of the Nisqually community.

Land use conditions

Olympia Associate Planner Lydia Moorehead discussed 13 conditions encompassing land use approval, which covers aspects of the development, including the requirement to adhere to the site plan dated August 18, 2023, and ensuring that the development aligns with the approved design, landscaping considerations, managing construction noise and hours of operation.

Moorehead also mentioned parking modifications. The conditions stated that the site should have 50 parking stalls and two long-term and two short-term bicycle parking stalls that meet the standards indicated in the city codes.

Other conditions for the project discussed the engineering standards, fire safety measures, urban forestry, sign compliance, and performance and maintenance bonds for landscaping and right-of-way.
