Olympia Arts Walk: Saturday activities to look forward to, expect road closures

Posted

Get ready for a vibrant celebration of the arts as Olympia’s semi-annual Arts Walk is today and Saturday. Expect road closures and detours.

Since 1990, this beloved community event has brought people together in downtown Olympia for a festive and creative experience.

With over 83 participating locations, more than 200 artists and activities, an arts market featuring 49 vendors, and a free arts activity area, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

This two-day event will run this Friday, October 6 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday, October 7 from 12 noon to 6 p.m., and will be held in the Arts Market near Washington Street and 5th Avenue.

The Arts Walk Arts Market, which debuted in the Fall 2022 with just eight booths, has now expanded to include 49 creative vendors offering original works, including paintings, ceramics, wearables, and more.

This market is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and is presented in collaboration with Gallery Boom.

You can find a list of participating artists on the Arts Market page.

The Street Closure Activities are also worth looking forward to, such as the Olympia School District Mega Marching Band on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Olympia has partnered with the Washington Center, Hands On Children’s Museum, Hummingbird Studio, and TC Media to host various free arts activities downtown.

These activities will be near the Intersection of 5th Avenue and Washington Street.

To help you plan your Arts Walk journey, printed maps are available at participating locations or download here.

You can also get the Virtual Events Calendar and build your itinerary to create a personalized Arts Walk experience to suit your interests.

Certain downtown streets will be closed to vehicle traffic and parking for the event to be pedestrian-friendly.

It is highly recommended that attendees arrive by foot, bike, bus, scooter, or carpool.

You can find the Intercity Transit schedules on their website.
