The Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney  has charged 42-year old man with first-degree criminal impersonation and use of a controlled substance following an incident on May 27.

At 7:30 p.m., an Olympia Police Department (OPD) officer observed two men, later identified as Shane Connor and Michael Escobar, in the parking lot at 2905 Harrison Avenue NW.

The officer saw both men using a pipe used to smoke narcotics and smoking out of tin foil.

When questioned, Escobar admitted to smoking methamphetamine, while Connor denied using drugs.

Connor also provided a name, which the officer confirmed was false.

When confronted, the suspect admitted to using his friend's identity.

“Connor explained that he was on supervision and had missed his appointments,” and that he just used his friend’s identity to obtain jobs.

The suspect was then arrested, and when searched, authorities discovered “a broken pipe with fresh black residue on it and torch lights.”

The suspect’s companion was released at the scene.

Authorities contacted the suspect’s friend, who said, “Connor and him were best friends growing up, but he had not seen Connor in approximately ten years.”

Two days later, Connor was officially charged with first-degree criminal impersonation and unlawful use of a controlled substance in a public place.
