Cooling center opens in Lacey for seniors during heatwave

Lacey, in partnership with Senior Services for South Sound, will open the Virgil S. Clarkson Senior Center as a cooling center for seniors in Lacey during this extreme heat.

The center will open on Sunday, July 7, at 12:30 p.m. and remain open until 7:30 p.m. On Monday, July 8, the center will open at 8:30 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. On Tuesday, July 9, the center will open at 8:30 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m.

Community members may visit the Virgil S. Clarkson Senior Center at 6757 Pacific Avenue SE in Lacey for more information.

Daytime highs for Sunday to Tuesday around Lacey are 94, 97, and 99 degrees, respectively, according to the National Weather Service.
