Major narcotics bust: Thurston County Narcotics Task Force seizes drugs, firearms, and cash in cartel operation

Posted

The Thurston County Narcotics Task Force (TNT) made a series of successful raids resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit drugs, firearms, and cash linked to a cartel operation, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) reported on their social media post.

Over the past few weeks, TNT executed multiple search warrants across various locations in Washington State, leading to the confiscation of substantial contraband.

The operations were launched in response to intelligence indicating the consistent direct importation of narcotics into Thurston County.

During the execution of search warrants, TNT seized a staggering amount of illegal substances and weaponry, including 104lbs of methamphetamine, 40,000 fentanyl pills, 2.7 ounces of fentanyl powder, 5.4 ounces of cocaine, 42 firearms, $97,000 in cash, a stolen Kubota RTV and Audi sedan utilized to do their transactions.

The raids have already resulted in several arrests, with more expected as the investigation progresses.

In light of these arrests, TCSO emphasizes the necessity of seizing and apprehending both intermediary and high-profile cartel-affiliated dealers to address the ongoing threat posed by drug trafficking in the county.

“While most of the seizures TNT coordinates are not regularly reported, the task force believes it is important to share periodic updates so that the public is aware of the massive flow of cartel supplied narcotics and guns in our local community. Nearly all crime in our county can be traced back to some form of drug trafficking as the opioid epidemic continues to trend upward,” TSCO shared.

The Thurston Narcotics Task Force operates through collaborative efforts, comprising detectives from TCSO, Washington State Patrol, Homeland Security, a part-time Olympia Police Department detective, and the Department of Corrections.

A collaboration by various law enforcement agencies led to multiple search warrants, confiscation, and arrests.

“For this specific operation, TCSO received assistance from Thurston County SWAT operators (TCSO, Olympia Police Department, and Yelm Police Department), Pierce County Sheriff's Department, Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, FBI, Homeland Security, Washington State Patrol, DEA, Department of Corrections, and Toppenish Police Department. We are extremely grateful to our partner organizations who recognize the importance of this work and why it matters,” TCSO stated in their social media post.

Do NOT let these criminals back out on the streets. Judges, make bail fifteen million dollars per person. I am sick of these criminals conducting business in Thurston county without being held accountable.

You keep telling us, the public, to help people we see overdosing, you want us to buy and keep on hand Narcan (which isn't cheap, it starts at $50 a dose) and yet the best way to keep from having to do that is to bust these criminals and KEEP them behind bars.

Narcan is free if you actually took the time to call anyone and asked. So please don't spread misinformation. There's no way anybody would charge $50 for it. If you go downtown Olympia usually there's someone out with an outreach riding around on a bike passing it out. Or you can call Northwest resources and they'll point you in the right direction. But if you care enough to carry it around so that way you can save life those are the places you can get it for free. Unfortunately there are individuals that are out there on the streets that know nothing else but drugs. And a little help goes a long way even if it is just carrying narcan around in your car. So if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it.
