Where was the punk's parents?
Or, as happened to my neighbor...he caught a punk and his girlfriend trying to steal the catalytic converter off his pickup, which was parked next to his house (NOT on the street). This was at 10 PM on a weekday night. While his wife called the sheriff (and a deputy lives a few blocks from us) my neighbor held the thieves at gunpoint until the deputy arrived.
The deputy learned the male punk had a warrant for his arrest in Lewis County...but still, he LET THEM GO.
When we all protested, he sniveled, "Our jail is full."
Now this was before Derek Sanders was elected Sheriff. Maybe things are different, but even so, darn it, put these people in JAIL. FOR A WHILE, not an overnight stay.
