Thurston County Fair invites foods, hobbies, arts and crafts enthusiasts to submit their entries

The “Buzz on Down to the Thurston County Fair!” is fast approaching, and they are calling on art, floral, food, hobbies and crafts, and photography enthusiasts to participate in their open-class contests.

For those interested in joining, submit your entry during the competition, which will be held at the Thurston County Fairgrounds from July 22 to 29.

Below are the details of the different open-class contests.

Open Class Photography

To be held on July 26 from 4-7 p.m. and July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., interested participants will have the opportunity to showcase their best photos of any subject, including people, pets, scenery, food, and many others. The photos can be in landscape or portrait orientation and in black and white or full color.

Open Class Hobbies and Crafts

Interested crafts enthusiasts are invited to showcase their beautiful creations on July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Woodcrafts, ceramics, jewelry, embroidery, and so many other lovely handicrafts are welcome in the dozens of hobby and craft contests held during this date.

Open Class Art

The contest will take place on July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again on July 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants of all ages are invited to enter and bring their best creations, including paintings, sketches, drawings, miniatures, and sculptures.

Open Class Baking

Showcase your best-tasting breads, pastries, cakes, pies, cookies, and other baked goods on July 29 from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

Open Class Preserved Foods

On July 29, from 12 noon until 6 p.m., submit your canned fruits and vegetables, pickles, sauces, jams, and jellies. You can also enter vinegar, preserved meats, dehydrated foods, honey, and an array of other preserved items.

Open Class Floral

Numerous floral competitions featuring a wide variety of categories will be held on July 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. Participants can enter cut flowers, herbs, trees, shrubs, bulbs, container gardens, and many other types of plants.

The “Buzz on Down to the Thurston County Fair!” will be held from July 31 to August 4.
