South Sound Block Party celebrates its third year 

August 23-24 fest features punk rock icons

The annual South Sound Block Party (SSBP) returns for its third year this August 23-24, featuring regional, national, and international musical talent at an affordable price point. The music festival goes live with over 15 live bands, food trucks, pop-ups, games, a large beer garden, and a VIP lounge. 

This year’s headliners feature Olympia’s punk band Bikini Kill on Friday and LA’s punk rock band X on Saturday.

Friday artists include Cole Scheifele, Ghost Fetish, Glitterfox, Black Ends, and DeVotchka. On Saturday, attendees can expect Eel Sallad, Small Paul, Manic Pixie Dream Boat, Seaside Tryst, LAKE, Oblé Reed, Hillstomp, Surfer Girl, and The Crane Wives. 

The SSBP takes place at the Northpoint of The Port of Olympia, at 1210 Marine Drive NE, Olympia, WA 98501. 

Reminders 

The party is open to all ages and free for attendees 12 years old and below. The beer garden and VIP lounge require a government ID for alcohol purchases.   

The festival kicks off on Friday, August 23, at 3 p.m., and the music will finish at 10 p.m. On Saturday, August 24, gates open at 1 p.m., and music will conclude at 10 p.m. 

All patrons with valid wristbands are welcome to re-enter the event as they please. Attendees may use various entry points using the wristband, subject to a security screening.  

Attendees may bring empty water bottles, reasonably sized strollers, sunscreen, and low-back chairs 

Prohibited items include professional cameras with detachable lenses, outside food or beverages, weapons, glass, cans, bottles, coolers, animals (except licensed service animals), illegal drugs, laser pens, drones, and pop-up tents. 

The weekend general admission pass costs $80, and a single-day wristband costs $45. Tickets can be purchased at the website. 
 
In a Facebook post, SSBP stated that the tickets would be digitally delivered to attendees a few days before the event, but they would not mail wristbands to avoid fraudulent re-selling or ‘scalping.
