In celebration of Pride Month, the Puget Sound Estuarium is hosting a series of events to recognize diversity through visibility of LGBTQIA+ individuals in STEM, as well as educate the community about the unique estuary environment.
The festivities kick off on June 1st with the Tiny Tides Storytime Pride Celebration from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m..
This family-friendly event features drag performers reading estuary-themed picture books, a nautical sing-along, and a craft activity to create rainbow jellyfish.
Attendees can also meet animal ambassadors and help feed various marine creatures.
Registration costs between $3 and $15 and can be completed through this link.
On June 8th, in collaboration with Stonewall Youth, the Estuarium will host the Sirens & Sea Monsters: All Ages Drag Benefit Show from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m..
This marine-themed event at Stonewall Youth will highlight youth performers and raise funds for both organizations.
Tickets are available on a sliding scale from $10 to $20 through this registration link.
For adults, the Walk the Plank: Drag on the Salish Sea event will be held on June 14th from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Wildman Gastropub.
This 21+ drag benefit show, hosted by the Burley Barnacles Drag Crew, promises an entertaining evening with marine-themed drag acts.
Tickets are $25 in presale and $30 at the door and register ahead here.
These events aim to foster community spirit, support LGBTQIA+ youth, and promote marine conservation and education.
