Overdose incident leads to drug dealer’s arrest

Thurston Sheriff deputies arrested a suspect for allegedly selling tainted narcotics, leading to two people’s overdose and killing one of them.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies responded to a “CPR in progress” call in the Nisqually Valley area last June 5.

Upon arrival, deputies immediately initiated CPR and administered Naloxone (Narcan), a drug used to counter the effects of Fentanyl and heroin-type narcotics, but the individual did not survive.

The incident prompted a joint investigation by detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force (TNT).

According to TCSO, in an official statement on their social media page, “it was learned a known person stopped by the house and provided narcotics to consume.”

Two of the individuals who had used the said narcotics became unconscious.

“When one of them awoke later, they discovered their significant other was non-responsive, and 911 was called,” TCSO further stated.

Further investigation revealed that the narcotics provided were laced with Fentanyl, a potent and often deadly synthetic opioid, and methamphetamine.

The cause of death was attributed to “Fentanyl and Methamphetamine toxicity.”

On October 4th, detectives from TNT located and apprehended the individual responsible for providing the tainted narcotics.

The suspect has been booked into the Thurston County Jail on charges of controlled substance homicide.

“The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office and the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force take the narcotic epidemic seriously and know the impacts on our community. We will vigorously investigate the sales, delivery, and trafficking of narcotics within our jurisdiction,” TCSO and TNT said in their statement. No names were given in the statement.
