The City of Lacey invites the South Sound community to its 2021 Mayor’s Gala on Friday, June 4, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

The free, virtual event will help support programming and operations at the Lacey Veterans Services Hub (Hub), and feature a number of distinguished guest speakers, drawings for unique raffle prizes, special music, and more. Interested parties can register at ci.lacey.wa.us/2021MayorsGala.

More than 32,000 Veterans call Thurston County home. Many are in need of convenient access to critical programs and services—including housing, employment, education, health and nutrition, VA benefits, and legal services. To help meet local demand and reduce barriers to Veteran services, Lacey worked with about a dozen local providers to establish the Hub in 2016. Since that time, the number of partners participating in the busy one-stop location has grown to more than 80. In response to the growing need in our community for services provided at the Hub, the City led a facility-renovation project over the past year. The project expanded the Hub’s footprint from 1,200 to over 8,000 square feet, allowing for more and improved spaces for service providers. Mayor’s Gala attendees will get a video tour of the new facility.

“The Lacey Veterans Services Hub and its outstanding providers are filling a tremendous need in greater Thurston County,” said Lacey Mayor Andy Ryder. “In 2020 alone, the Hub scheduled nearly 6,500 appointments for Veterans services. This critical resource is truly changing lives in our community.”

The Lacey Veterans Services Hub is located on the Lacey campus of South Puget Sound Community College at 4232 6th Avenue SE. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (360) 456-3850.
