ADVICE FROM A LEXIS

Moving boldly onward

Posted

Dear Readers,

I’ve been working on a business project for the last month or so and I find myself often wondering if I’m doing things right. This is not a new experience for me, but I’ve been learning along the way and now know that I generally need to stick with something for longer than I usually expect to. But, even knowing that time is the biggest determining factor, I still find myself wondering if things will work out.

Flip the narrative

This is a type of personal torture, and it’s not something I recommend anyone do. Instead of thinking about how things can go wrong, it’s time to flip the narrative. I can’t control the outcome, but I can control my actions.

This is a truth that extends across all avenues of life. Often times we like to play out potential scenarios in our heads, generally leaning toward the negative, but in the end, we can’t really predict how things will turn out. In fact, by freaking out about what could go wrong, we’re more likely to do the kinds of things that will ensure a negative result. ‘

Unknown

We can’t know the future or what surprising consequences might arise, but we can act in the best way we know possible. Sure, things might still go wrong, but that just means you still have something to learn.

All you can ever do is your best and you’ll never have all the information. Everything in life is a bit of a gamble and you can’t avoid things. So, rather than getting hung up on the possibility that things won’t turn out as expected, focus on the things you can control and go from there.

So far, you’ve solved many of the problems that come into your life, it may not have been easy, but you did it. Trust that you’ll be able to figure the next problem out, too and stop worrying about what that next problem might be.

Our history, as humans, has taught us to prepare for every eventuality, however, the risks aren’t all tied to death as much as they used to be (depending on your circumstances), and this tendency often gets in the way. We’ve grown so much and now we need to match that growth with new mentalities. It’s time to thrive, not just survive.

Trust that everything will work out eventually and move boldly forward. Trust yourself and see just how far you can go.

Yes/ We have to believe in ourselves, even if events or people in our past tried to put or keep us down. I know things I grew up with made me extremely shy. BUT, always sitting in the back of rooms and keeping quiet made me a great listener and I still get comments on that now!
