You be the detective

A male minor who was recently arrested on suspicion of robbery was booked anew after allegedly stealing a man’s wallet.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that deputies received a report of a robbery at McDonald’s in Grand Mound yesterday evening. The post reads, “The case of 'The Torn Money' - You be the detective.”

A suspect was accused of stealing a customer’s wallet just as he was about to pay, then fleeing the store.

Witnesses last saw the suspect running toward the dumpsters of a nearby Jack in the Box, wearing a blue sweatshirt and a black face mask with marijuana symbols. The same items of clothing were later located by deputies behind the dumpsters.

Deputies detained a male who walked out from behind the dumpsters. An Olympia K9 was brought in to track to ensure that the right person was being detained, witness statements were collected, and security footage confirmed that the correct individual was detained.

Two halves of a $20 bill that was ripped during the alleged robbery were also found, one on the suspect in his backpack, the other in the possession of the victim.

The suspect was booked into Thurston County Youth Services.

“It should be noted that the suspect in this case, a juvenile, also has a recent arrest for robbery,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

“No, Officer, you must have me confused with a different serial number. And the dog could be wrong, too. I smell like a lot of people.“
