An Oakville man was arrested on suspicion of stealing $30 worth of clothing from a Goodwill store in Olympia.

The 32-year-old suspect was arrested on May 22 after a reported theft at a Goodwill on Cooper Point Road SW.

The store manager told authorities that a man stole a pair of pants. The suspect was seen by the manager getting into the passenger seat of a black vehicle after the incident.

The manager said he was certain that the suspect stole the pair of pants that he had worn over his own jeans, adding that the shirts the suspect was wearing may have also been stolen.

When police arrived at the scene, the suspect attempted to exit the black car while looking at an officer “as if he were going to run,” according to the report. The driver said he did not know what was going on as he did not enter the store.

I announced myself to (the suspect) and he stated "Oh shit,” an officer wrote. The suspect then stepped out of the vehicle wearing pants with the tag still on, as well as three t-shirts. The manager positively identified Macmillan as the alleged thief.

Police said the suspect “rambled continuously about how ‘He was going to pay later’ and that he "put on the pants and shirts just to try them on.” He also made “multiple statements about knowing he messed up,” the report stated.

The suspect was booked into the Olympia City Jail for third-degree theft. Police said he also had a warrant for malicious mischief.
