Learning about Buddhism

Posted by lizfrey

Inspired by the founding teacher’s 2024 pilgrimages in Nepal and vicinity, Nalanda is offering a study program of readings, discussion, and reflection.

Those who participate will emerge with a solid grounding in Buddhist thought and practice.

This is part one of a three-part series that extends until June 2025 and covers three aspects of Buddhist thought and practice:

1. Mahayana – Bodhisattva Buddhism

2. the Buddhist Understanding of Mind

3. Tantrayana – Vajrayana Buddhism.

The Fall 2024 session will be an introduction to Mahayana (beginning October 24).

The team will be reading “Reality and Wisdom: Exploring the Buddha’s Four Noble Truths and The Heart Sutra” by Khenpo Migmar Tseten as well as “Teachings on Sakya Pandita’s Clarifying the Sage’s Intent” by Khenchen Appey Rinpoche.

Students should purchase copies of these books from Amazon or Simon and Schuster.
