Lacey swore in three councilmembers and reelected the city’s top brass at the city council meeting on Tuesday, January 2.

The three councilmembers - Malcolm Miller, Nicolas Dunning, and Lenny Greenstein - took their oaths of office, administered by City Attorney David Schneider.  Malcolm Miller initially took his oath of office on December 27.

It marked the beginning of Dunning's first term on the council. Miller and Greenstein have previously served on the council and now enter their second and fourth terms, respectively.

The city council then proceeded to nominate and elect officers. Andy Ryder was unanimously reelected to his sixth term as mayor.

Ryder thanked the council for supporting him for another term as mayor. "I appreciate everything this council does to work together to make Lacey a wonderful community. We could not do it unless we worked together and were on the same page,” he said.

The mayor noted that the council's approach to teamwork enables the city to thrive as the council works toward shared goals.

Ryder nominated Miller as deputy mayor, which the council also approved unanimously. Miller praised the council's supportive yet honest approach. "These people will tell you what you need to hear whether you like it or not, and the goal is to work together to make a city that people want to live in."
