A woman allegedly crashed into a man’s car but when speaking with him avoided exchanging identifying information and sought to provide her debit card to pay for the damages, on Wed., Aug. 11 at about 6:30 p.m.

Linda Tobin, 37, of Olympia, was later arrested by Olympia police after she fled the scene near Kenyon Street after the driver that she allegedly hit refused to accept cash money for the damages to his vehicle.

Tobin had, at one point, handed her debit card to the driver, but took off in her own car when the driver called 911. The driver was able to obtain the license plate of Tobin’s vehicle as she sped away.

Police used the license plate information to trace her to her home address. An officer traveled to Tobin’s listed address at 8:10 p.m. and found the vehicle she had allegedly crashed into the other driver.

Tobin admitted to the officer that she had been in the collision on Kenyon Street. Tobin could not provide proof of insurance. She was arrested at her home and then released there, with charges pending for hit-and-run attended and driving too fast for conditions.
