Join the campaign of contributing to the Pet Assistance for Low-income Seniors from September 9-15

Senior Services for South Sound (SSSS) highlights its Pet Assistance for Low-income Seniors (PALS) fund from September 9 to 15 in a campaign to collect more donations.

The PALS Fund, which depends on community donations, assists low-income seniors in paying for vital veterinary care for their pets. Procedures range from routine checkups to emergency procedures.

“Your donation—big or small—makes a massive difference. It’s more than just a gift; it’s peace of mind for seniors who can’t afford the rising costs of pet care. So let’s make PALS Week unforgettable!” SSSS’s newsletter said.

Last year, the fund paid $79,877 in veterinary bills, helping 208 seniors and 231 pets at 41 veterinary clinics. SSSS aims to increase that amount this year.

Everyone can contribute to the fund through the online donation portal or by mailing a check to Senior Services for South Sound at 222 Columbia Street NW, Olympia, WA, 98501.

Please note that funds should be directed to the PALS Fund in the check memo. To make a gift over the phone, please call the SSSS Development Office at 360-568-6181 ext. 106.

Low-income seniors eligible for pet assistance must be aged 60 or over, live in Thurston or Mason counties, and meet the program's guidelines to qualify as low-income.

Visit the PALS Pet Assistance Fund resources page for details regarding receiving benefits.
