Driver arrested in Downtown Olympia for firearm and drug offenses 

The vehicle was driving through downtown without functioning headlights and brake lights when noticed by a police officer

An Olympia Police Department (OPD) officer on patrol late into the night of July 7, observed a vehicle driving through downtown without functioning headlights and brake lights.  

According to the OPD post, the officers approached the driver at a nearby gas station in 1000 block of Plum Street SE.  

The officer noticed a handgun and lockbox in plain view on the driver’s side floor and identified paraphernalia and items in connection to narcotics dealing inside the vehicle.  

A search warrant was served on the vehicle and officers recovered the handgun, ammunition, powder fentanyl, marijuana, mushrooms, a scale, plastic baggies, a glass pipe, and $365 cash,” OPD stated in the news release. 

The suspect was arrested and booked into Thurston County Jail on charges of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver while armed, and an outstanding warrant for third-degree theft.
