Hummingbird Studios will have free one-hour art sessions each day from Tuesday to Thursday as part of the Olympia Armory’s first nine Art Interventions.

Hummingbird Studio is a free, inclusive community art program for individuals of all ages and abilities.

“It is an inclusive art program for people who like to make art. Art is the common denominator, and we strive to be a safe, kind, inclusive community for our artists,” Kokua Services Community Programs Director Randi Miller said.

The Armory’s free space and PARC Foundation’s stipend made the free art program possible.

Participants of Hummingbird Studios showcase their artistic outputs at the end of each session.

Hummingbird Studios is a project of Kokua Services, a nonprofit residential support agency serving adults with disabilities in Thurston County since 1990.

Schedule

Participants may choose from three-time slots each day: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Due to a limited capacity of 15 persons per session, artists can sign up for two sessions consecutively or on different days.

Registration for this event is required. To attend, please email hummingbird@kokuaservices.org

What are Armory Arts Interventions?

Hummingbird Studio’s art sessions are part of the Olympia Armory Creative Campus’s test drive of nine community-led projects selected from a public call.

The City of Olympia, The Bridge Music Project, and Thurston County's PARC Foundation Collaborate to begin an Arts Interventions and Facility Design Phase in 2023.

The project involves artists, cultural organizations, and a youth action council to rethink the potential uses of space through temporary art installations and creative pop-up projects in the facility, which kick-started the nine pioneering projects.
