Olympia's Neighborhood Centers: Online open house this Thursday

The city is seeking feedback during this interactive event

Posted

Olympia residents are invited to participate in a digital open house scheduled for Thursday, May 16, at 5:30 p.m. to talk about improvements and support for the neighborhood centers in the city.

The virtual session will kick off with a presentation by MAKERS Architecture and Urban Design, to be followed by an open forum to be facilitated by the city staff where participants can ask questions or provide feedback.

Neighborhood centers are venues for retail and service businesses to cater to the residents’ daily needs and are accessible to pedestrians, cyclists, and public transit users.

The improvement of human health, the development of neighborhood resilience, the reduction of carbon emissions, and the enhancement of walkability are all significant goals of these community centers.

Over the past two years, the City consultant engaged in assessments of each neighborhood center, solicited feedback from stakeholders, and conducted market analysis.

City officials will then share their findings with the public, as well as gather additional insights, during the open house.

The insights gathered during this event will contribute to the ongoing update of the city's Comprehensive Plan, Olympia 2045.

I signed up for this event, but after 15 minutes on the Zoom call, it had not started. Too bad!
