The afternoon of December 4, the Olympia Police Department was called to assist with a reported burglary at Boardwalk Apartments on Capitol Way North.

A maintenance worker at Boardwalk Apartments called the authorities and alleged that a man wearing a black hoodie and black jeans had forcibly entered a room and was found passed out on a chair inside.

Upon arrival, responding officers discovered damage to the door frame of the room

During the authorities’ interview with the maintenance worker, the witness explained that a camera inside the room had captured footage of the suspect inside on December 3 at 7:40 p.m

The video also revealed the suspect placing a machete inside his waistband.

According to the information given by the apartment resident’s daughter, the intruder, identified as Travis Foxworth, is known to carry a knife.

The resident was reported to be in the hospital at the time of the incident.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had reportedly entered the Boardwalk Apartments through a secure entrance door on December 2a little before midnight, using a pair of pliers.

The next day, when maintenance workers noticed the damaged door, they went inside the room to check and found the suspect passed out in a chair.

After interviewing witnesses, the officers, who were standing by the door, called inside the apartment and said, “Olympia Police,” then asked, “Travis, are you there?

The suspect responded and was asked to come to the door to speak to the officers. At this time, he walked out of the room.

After making contact with the suspect, one officer handcuffed him and conducted a frisk. A pair of pliers were found in his pocket and confiscated. Officers cleared the room and found no other individuals inside. The machete in the video was not found at that time.

Upon review of camera footage and statements obtained from witnesses, the cost of replacing the damaged door to the invaded room was assessed at approximately $2,500 for parts and labor.

Following the investigation, the responding officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for first –degree burglary and second-degree malicious mischief, and he was transported to the Thurston County Jail.
