Commentators are fond of quoting statistics that show that blacks are over-represented in the prison system vs percentage of population. Never do we have anyone postulate that this is because perhaps black people commit more crimes that they get caught for. Now we can discuss at length the societal factors that may lead to this result, but we should not automatically convict the justice system alone for this disparity.
