Jill, your tiny wormlike critter may well be an inchworm! Their legs are located at opposite ends of it's bofy (2 on one end, 4 on the other.) They can stand up holding thier 2-legged part in the air that's where the eyes and brain are too. Then they use the 2-legged part to flop over or walk towards its 4-legged nether parts.
Alternatively, I could be terribly wrong and perhaps some kind soul will correct me!
