It's important to note that the term "legacy forest" is not the same as "old growth forest" which seems to be conflated in this article. Washington has very little old growth outside of national parks and a few other areas. These legacy forests are regrowth which was planted after it was logged long ago and accounts for 86% of all forests statewide.
