Appreciate getting this story republished from another independent local newspaper The Northern Light. Very insightful as to causes of death in these two tragic situations. Thurston County and Whatcom County need to investigate why their inspector missed the improper installation of these gas fuel devices. Most of the fault is in improper installation by the people that did the work. However Building Inspectors have a duty to thoroughly inspect elements that can cause harm if installed improperly. We all need to know if the homes live in and visit are safe . Hence the reason for inspections.
