A 20-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted on Wednesday morning, June 11, while going door-to-door selling books in a Lacey neighborhood.

According to the Lacey Police Department, the woman had approached a home on 8000 block of North Bicentennial Loop SE just before 11 a.m on June 11.

The man who answered the door, identified by police records as John Kevin Clayton, 53, initially appeared interested in purchasing a book. However, when he returned to the door with his wallet, he suddenly turned violent.

As he (suspect) came back to the door, he grabbed the female by the hair and pulled her into the residence. He struck her several times on the head with a hammer and threatened to kill her if she did not stop yelling,” the Lacey Police Department said in a social media post.

The victim managed to fight back, reportedly kicking the man in the face, and then fleeing the house.

Before escaping, the woman grabbed the man's wallet, which later helped police identify him. She ran to a nearby home, where the resident called 911.

Authorities quickly launched an investigation and obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s home. With assistance from the regional SWAT team, officers arrested the suspect without further incident.

The suspect is currently being held at the Thurston County Jail on charges of first-degree assault, first-degree kidnapping and felony harassment.

He made a preliminary appearance in Thurston County Superior Court on Thursday, June 12. His arraignment is scheduled for June 24, court records show.

The victim was treated for her injuries at a local hospital.

“We are very proud of this young lady. She is a survivor. She met evil head-on, and after being struck several times on the head with a hammer, had the wherewithal to collect his identification on the way out,” the Lacey Police Department said.

Let's hope he isn't in front of Judge Zipp because she loves to release violent felons back into the community.

That area has been a problem for over 30 years. It's like the smelly aimpit of Lacey that needs to be sanitized. In a practical sense, you would station idle police there as a deterrent that could be deployed very quickly anywhere in Lacey. But that would be deemed racist by the controlling TDS narcissists.
