Washington State Patrol’s Bomb Squad safely detonated explosive device

The device was found by a passerby in NE Lacey

On the morning of June 20, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious homemade explosive device found on the side of Hill Street NE in Lacey. 

According to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) post, a passerby discovered the device and alerted authorities around 8:30 a.m. 

Upon arrival, deputies assessed the situation and confirmed that the device was hazardous. 

“Washington State Patrol’s Bomb Squad responded and safely detonated the device around noon, resulting in a loud explosion,” TCSO stated. 

Authorities have confirmed that the device discovered is no longer a threat. 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
