Wanted men charged with second-degree burglary after break-in at Olympia restaurant

Two men have been charged with second-degree burglary following a break-in at a restaurant on Martin Way E, according to an Olympia Police Department report.

The suspects, identified as Dylan Ian Collis, 24, of Olympia, and Michael Clarence Trueblood, 24, of Bucoda, were arrested on Oct. 14 after police responded to a burglary alarm at K Town Rice Bowl at 3959 Martin Way E.

Responding officers arrived shortly before 3 a.m. and found the restaurant’s back door forced open, with visible pry marks and damage to the locks. The business owner later reported that three delivery tablets used for food orders were missing. The total value of the tablets was listed at $3,000.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office deputies later located two men. But the duo fled on foot, leading to a pursuit through nearby parking areas.

Collis was caught near Lilly Road SE carrying a gray backpack that contained the three stolen tablets, according to the report. He first denied involvement in the crime, but later acknowledged his involvement after he was informed that he was captured on closed circuit television footage.

“Dylan admitted he did go inside the building and went right behind his friend. He said his buddy threw something in his backpack, but Dylan didn`t know what it was,” a responding officer stated in the report following an interview with the suspect.

Trueblood was later found hiding under a trailer at a nearby park. He denied his involvement in the crime and refused to talk with authorities.

Investigators confirmed both men had active warrants prior to the burglary. The men were taken to Thurston County Corrections Facility for booking. Following their arrest, prosecutors charged them with second-degree burglary and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Understanding that this is an investment and will have ongoing costs, the benefit to the citizens of Thurston County is what must be evaluated. I believe Sheriff Sanders will do a good job at ensuring the benefits and costs are addressed adequately so full disclosure is made. If response times and public safety will be reduced and lives can be saved, this could be a great opportunity. We have to join the 21st century and use the best resources available. I don’t mind paying for increased law enforcement that benefits the county. We need better policing and tools to stop crime.

Good job TCSO! You got the culprits so soon enough after the breakin to catch them red handed with the evidence. And hopefully the $3000 tablets are in good shape and can get back to work at the restaurant
