It is with great sorrow that the family of Vienna Leigh Couch, 81, of Lacey, Washington, announces her passing on November 23, 2024. Born on October 23, 1943, in Wakefield, Michigan, to Raymond and Vienna Maki, Leigh was an amazing and cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
As a military child, Leigh spent much of her childhood in various places in the U.S. and overseas (England and Germany). She graduated from Olympia High School in 1961. After 2 years in San Diego, she and her husband settled in the Olympia area. She worked for the state of Washington for 13 years, retired early in 1983, and was active and well-loved in her church, First Baptist Church of Lacey. Leigh loved spending time with family and friends, crafting, and telling stories from her past. Although she struggled with Multiple Sclerosis for most of her adult life, she never let that define her. Leigh lived every day with a heart of gratitude. She will always be remembered for her steadfast faith in God, fun spirit, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and community.
Leigh is survived by her sons, Mark, of Olympia and Brian, of Tumwater, grandchildren Kai, Chloe, Mariah, Kristina and Dominique, great-children, Brooks and Rhodes, sisters, Kathy, Marian and Diana and a brother, Thomas.
A memorial service will be held on February 22, 2025, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lacey, 4705 22nd Ave SE, Lacey, Washington 98503. All who knew her are welcome. In lieu of flowers, Leigh desired that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
