Two arrested in Olympia for alleged restaurant burglary

Olympia Police Department (OPD) personnel arrested two suspects in connection with a series of alleged thefts at a local restaurant, where thousands of dollars worth of alcohol and cash were stolen in the span of two days.

Authorities said the break-ins occurred on Feb. 11 and 12 at a restaurant in the 100 block of Legion Way SE, according to an OPD police report.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed two men entering the business, stealing alcohol valued between $2,500 and $3,000, along with approximately $200 to $300 in cash.

Authorities identified the suspects as Gary Stevenson and Marcos J. Harris, both residents of an apartment complex on Washington Street SE.

According to investigators, the footage showed the pair tampering with the entrance lock before making their way inside.

After taking money from a cash box and gathering bottles of alcohol, they left but returned shortly after to steal more.

The following day, “Gary enters the restaurant again but alone this time through the front doors. Gary walks over to the cash box and takes approximately $200-$300 in cash from the cash box,” OPD stated in the police report.

Armed with video footage against the suspects, OPD officers went to Stevenson's residence and arrested him on Feb. 13.

He first questioned what he was being arrested for, and when shown the surveillance footage, he apparently admitted to being involved in the incidents.

Stevenson was booked into Thurston County Jail on three counts of second-degree burglary.

On Feb. 28, Harris was arrested at his apartment after contacting police to report that he was being evicted due to the alleged crime.

He initially denied involvement and stated that, “he had video evidence showing that he did not burglarize the restaurant,” but could not provide evidence to support his claims.

Haris was booked on two counts of second-degree burglary.

Maybe they were booked but apparently released, as the TCSO website doesn't show them on their jail roster. It's so darned sad that the sheriff dept does their job and then someone...a judge? lets them go. Any bets they'll be back at the restaurant for more?
