Tumwater to celebrate Independence Day with parade and Thunder Valley Fireworks Show

Tumwater invites families to join the Independence Day celebrations on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

The day begins with the Independence Day Parade. In the evening, there is a Tumwater Family Festival, and Nisqually Red Wind Casino Fireworks Show—the “biggest display in Thurston County!”

The 36th Annual Independence Day Parade will commence at 11 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. at Capitol Boulevard & Israel Road.

This year’s parade theme is “Red, White & BOOM!” and features many fun activities: cars and trucks, marching bands, drill teams, big floats, and sometimes even baby goats. 

“Find a viewing spot along the parade route and watch military and veteran’s groups, high school cheer and dance teams, classic cars, and more,” stated the cities page.

The Tumwater Family Festival and Nisqually Red Wind Casino Fireworks Show will follow at 6 p.m. at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course.Families are encouraged to attend Tumwater’s traditional 4th of July Family Festival at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course Driving Range. Festival gates and event parking open at 6 p.m.Attendees can look forward to music, food vendors, games, and more. Something new this year is The Wings Aerialist's cirque-style show. The Fireworks Show begins at 10:15 p.m. and is accompanied by music on-site. The festival entry is free, with a $10/car parking fee. There is food available on-site for purchase. Pioneer Park will be closed all day on July 4 for safety and maintenance reasons.
