Tumwater is calling on residents to share their thoughts on the climate element of the 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update.
This new chapter focuses on tackling climate change and will guide the city’s policies for the next 20 years.
One of the plan's goals is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build resilience to climate hazards, such as heat waves and flooding.
The climate element, which is a first draft, was shaped through public engagement, city research and contributions from organizations, including the South Sound Asian Pacific Islander Coalition, the Thurston Climate Action Team, the Thurston Climate Mitigation Collaborative and the Climate Advisory Policy Team (CPAT).
The draft reflects public feedback and recommendations received so far, but the city is seeking additional input to ensure this part of the comprehensive plan best serves the community’s needs.
To access the current draft of the climate element, visit the 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update web page.
For residents who would like to provide feedback, email the Comprehensive Plan team.
