The Tumwater Police Department (TPD) are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two persons of interest connected to a suspected arson at the South Pacific Restaurant on June 23.

TPD released CCTV footage showing two individuals fleeing on foot eastbound along Custer Way SE just after the first fire occurred after 2 p.m. at the restaurant located at the intersection of Capitol Boulevard and Custer Way SE. The first fire was extinguished by the Tumwater Fire Department.

However, a second fire was set just after 3:20 p.m., engulfing and destroying the building.

The Tumwater Fire Department responded to the two fire alarms.

“The video of the two people on bicycles shows two persons of interest dressed in the same/similar clothing as the persons in the first video riding westbound on Custer Way SE,” Tumwater Police Department stated.

The two were seen entering the foliage on the east side of the building, and smoke was seen shortly after their entry.

Tumwater and other fire departments responded to two fire alarms on June 23 that destroyed the old South Pacific Restaurant, an unoccupied building for several years since the restaurant closed.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the identity of these individuals to email Detective Sergeant C. Liska or call dispatch at (360) 754-4200.
