Several street closures planned for Fourth of July parade in Tumwater

A planned Fourth of July parade in Tumwater will upend traffic patterns in some parts of the city in order to accommodate the event.

“Preparation and staging for Tumwater’s annual Independence Day Parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 4, 2025. There are road closures along the parade route and staging area and vehicular access to and from properties along the parade route will be restricted,” the City of Tumwater said in a traffic alert on Monday, June 30.

Linderson Way SW will be closed from Israel Road to West Lee Street and Capitol Boulevard at 8:30 a.m., as the location will serve as the parade staging area. Traffic will be restricted to emergency access only.

Capitol Boulevard will be closed from West Lee Street to Israel Road at 10:30 a.m., as the location will be serve as part of the parade route. Israel Road will be closed from Capitol Boulevard to Linderson Way.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Drivers will need to use alternate routes. All streets are scheduled to reopen to traffic at 1 p.m., the City of Tumwater said.
