Victim initially refused to press charges

A transient Olympia man, Brandon James Jackson, 37, was charged with a felony after allegedly assaulting another individual using an axe, causing the victim’s head to bleed.

Jackson, was charged with first-degree assault by the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney on November 18.

Olympia police arrested Jackson on November 17, three days after he allegedly assaulted another man using an axe near the AM/PM store in the 400 block of Sleater Kinney Road SE.

On November 14, a store employee reported that a man walked in, "semi-unconscious” and bleeding from the head. The victim asked for help, saying he got hit in the head with an axe.

A police officer arrived at the scene and observed a 1x1” laceration on the victim’s head, which was actively bleeding at the time.

The officer said the victim was uncooperative and agitated throughout their encounter. The Olympia Fire Department attempted to treat the man’s wound, but he kept removing the bandages.

Police initially closed the case as the victim refused to cooperate and there were no witnesses. Two days later, the responding officer did a welfare check and saw the victim again.

The man said he had been having trouble walking straight, noting that he once walked into a pole, since the assault. He agreed to be identified as the victim of the alleged assault for pressing charges.

The victim explained that he and his friends were camping near Hobby Lobby on Martin Way E when Jackson, whom he knew from around the area, approached him agitated while armed with an axe because the victim and his friends were being rowdy.

The victim said he apologized to Jackson, but the suspect was still upset. Jackson then swung the axe at the victim, hitting him on the arm. The suspect hit the victim again, this time in the head. It was not immediately clear if the victim’s arm was hurt.

A friend of the victim told police that he knew where the ax was from and who its owner of it is, but police were unable to locate the owner or the ax at the encampment they were directed to. Though the police were also not able to determine if this lead was factual.

On November 17, police located Jackson in the parking lot of Lowe’s on Martin Way E. Authorities were tipped off on the suspect’s location by his ex-wife. The victim also positively identified Jackson as the suspect from a photographic lineup.

Jackson was arrested without incident. He was booked into the Thurston County Jail after receiving medical attention for an abscess in his neck and body pains.

There is false information in this article. First of all, I am Brandon's wife, not ex-wife & second, I did NOT tip the police off as to where he was when he was arrested.

Maybe you should contact me before writing about me in an article....

There's been an update. Mr. Jackson was not the person who committed the crime. Charges were dropped after an witness came forward and provided information leading to the charges being dropped. Mr Jackson was held for 3 months in the county jail.
