Thurston Community Media seeking paid student apprentices for summer media program

Thurston Community Media (TCM) is welcoming students to apply for their Young Producers Network Digital Media Apprentice Cohort (YPN-DMAC) this summer.

In a press release, TCM announced that program apprentices will be given opportunities to learn various media operations, such as assisting with TCMedia summer camps, working on TCMedia video productions, helping with general media center operations, or supporting communications and social media efforts.

“Our summer camps for 8 to 16-year-olds have been held for almost 20 years, said TCM Chief Executive Officer Deborah Vinsel. “This is a new extension of our youth media program to support an age group that hasn't been served in the past.”

Applicants must be at least 16 years old to apply for the program’s six open slots. TCM said no prior media experience is needed.

"We're offering a paid work experience to older high school students that will connect them with the community, add to their resume, and help them build skills necessary to be successful in the workplace," Vinsel said.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, June 16.
