Thurston Climate Mitigation Collaborative seeks volunteers for advisory workgroup

Posted

The Thurston Climate Mitigation Collaborative (TCMC) is inviting community members and local organizations to apply to join its Community Advisory Workgroup (CAW).

According to TCMC’s press release, the CAW serves as the stakeholder workgroup to support the implementation of the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan. It will meet ten to 12 times per year to provide community perspectives and feedback on climate mitigation progress and priorities to the cities and the County, the TCMC Staff Team, and the Executive Committee of elected officials.

“We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds including youth, seniors, tribal members, people with disabilities, people of color, business owners, poor and working-class folks, professionals," TCMC said, “in short, anyone who cares about our community and wants to share their perspective on climate solutions!”

Interested community members may apply online, contact Olympia Climate Program Manager Dr. Pamela Braff, or call 360-753-8249 to apply. Applications close on Saturday, September 30.

TCMC was created by Thurston County, Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater to create the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan, which sets greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals by 2030 and 2050 to reduce local contributions to climate change.

So they want activists, not scientists. Got it!

Mitigating earth's climate will be every bit as easy as standing on a chair in a dungeon under the Tower of London and flapping your arms and flying away to Proxima Centauri.

Bon voyage! Write when you land!
