In a recent post shared on X, the Olympia Police Department reported their response to a commercial burglary earlier this month.
The incident involved suspects gaining entry to a local business by breaking a window and making off with $300 in cash along with various electronics.
Luck was not in the thief’s favor as the victim could use a built-in tracking software on one of the stolen devices.
The tracking technology allowed officers to pinpoint the suspect's location in possession of the stolen item.
As a result, law enforcement successfully recovered the device and promptly returned it to the rightful owner.
The charges for the possession of stolen property have been referred to the Prosecutor.

It's unfortunate that it takes tracking-tech vs head/heart-felt empathy to deter theft/violence... if only adherence to the Golden Rule was a universal given.
